Live from LechZeit

You can hike in the Lech Valley all year round. However, we like it best in autumn, when the sun bathes the landscape in a golden light and the air is fresh and clear again. We'll tell you why in this article.
In September, it gets quieter again on the mountain pastures. The cattle are down in the valley and the summer rush of holidaymakers is long gone. The views are magical in autumn, you have the most beautiful spots to yourself and the weather is usually stable.
There are a few huts in the immediate vicinity of LechZeit that are still open. They await you with good alpine cuisine, Lechtal home cooking and selected specialities from the alpine pastures. With these temptations, die-hard hikers won't be able to stay in the valley.
We can particularly recommend these hut hikes, which are easily accessible from LechZeit:
The Stablalm is known as the ‘Balcony of the Lech Valley’ and rightly so, as the view deep into the Lech Valley is unique. You can start the entertaining hike up to the Stablalm directly from LechZeit.
It takes you over the Lech bridge through the village of Elmen to the Stabl car park at Edelbach. From there, you can take the shorter and steeper route (approx. one hour), or the longer and more leisurely route via the farm track (approx. one and a half hours).
Opening hours: daily until the beginning of November (Tuesday closed)
Fallerschein is a popular alpine village at 1,300 metres above sea level. One of the 40 huts is Michl's Fallerscheinstube.
You can reach it on foot from the Fallerschein junction on the country road between Stanzach and Namlos in around 40 minutes. The alpine village is the starting point for numerous other hikes.
Opening hours: Mid-May to mid-October (closed on Thursdays)
If you are looking for a family-friendly hike that is also suitable for pushchairs, the Gibler Alm snack station is the right place for you. It is also located on the Geierwally circular hiking trail.
The start is the Geierwally car park. From there, cross the Bernhardsbach bridge in the direction of Hotel Alpenrose. On the right-hand side of the tarmac path, you will already see the signs to the Gibler Alm, which will lead you past the wood carving workshop to the forest road. A few hairpin bends take you along Conny's Adlerweg trail with its carved sculptures and cosy benches through the forest up to the Gibler Alm, which you reach after around an hour.
Opening times: End of May to end of October (closed on Mondays)
You shouldn't miss out on the Petersberg Alm. It is located in the picturesque Hornbachtal valley, where you can walk along old smugglers' trails.
Starting from the Marzelina bridge in Hinterhornbach, a narrow tarmac road leads to the Klausbrücke bridge. There you can choose between the footpath or the flat gravel road. We recommend the more scenic footpath that leads along the Hornbach stream. Shortly before the Petersberg Alm, you will see the Salbbach waterfall on the right-hand side of the valley. The trail can be completed in just under two hours.
Opening times: Mid-May to mid-October (closed on Mondays)
We will of course be happy to help you with your individual tour planning.
