Discover the winter hiking trails around the LechZeit

Winter hiking around LechZeit is pure magic - freezing cold air, the crunch of snow under your boots and the silence of the snow-covered landscape. Numerous paths with beautiful vantage points invite you to explore.

These are our favorites:

#1 To the Stablalm

Start directly from the LechZeit or at the Stabl parking lot in Elmen. An easily accessible forest path leads you over the Antetalbach stream, past the Mühlboden clearing and through a small tunnel to the Stablalm. Return along the same path. Take your time to enjoy the view of the Lechtal valley towards the Arlberg and Allgäu Alps.

Length: 10 km
Walking time: 4 hours

Difficulty: medium

Refreshments: Stablam

#2 Three-bridge loop

This loop takes you through the wintry landscape along the Lech. You start at LechZeit, where you cross the first of the three bridges at the nature park house. From here, you hike upstream to the confluence of the Streinbach stream and reach the small Streinbach bridge in the gorge of the same name via a forest path. Continue to the makeshift bridge at the quarry before the path leads downstream back to LechZeit.

Length: 5 km
Walking time: 1 hour

Difficulty: easy

#3 From Elmen to Stanzach

From LechZeit, head towards the Elmen community center, through the small village of Elmen, past the church, along snow-covered fields to the Mühlböden. Continue along a well-groomed path to Stanzach. After a refreshment stop, return along the same route or take the public bus in Stanzach back to the village hall in Elmen.

Length: 6.5 km
Walking time: 2 hours

Difficulty: easy

#4 Holzgauer Hängebrückenrunde | With a spectacular highlight

The starting point is the village square in Holzgau (approx. 20 minutes by car from the LechZeit). From there, head north through the village past the houses with their painted façades and steadily uphill via hairpin bends, past the hamlet of Oberwinkel. Follow the signs to the west and reach the suspension bridge via Schiggen and Mühlwald. From there you have a breathtaking view down into the Höhenbach gorge. The way back to the starting point is more leisurely.

Length: 4 km
Walking time: 2 hours

Difficulty: easy

#5 Elbigenalp - Gibler Alm | For the whole family

Start is at the Geierwally parking lot in Elbigenalp (10 minutes away from us by car). The trail leads past the Bernhardstal gorge and through a coniferous forest uphill to the Gibler Alm, where a beautiful view over the snow-covered Lechtal awaits you. The trail is easy to manage with a snow-suitable baby carriage. A natural playground awaits the little ones and culinary delights await the grown-ups.

Length: 1.5 km
Walking time: 45 minutes

Difficulty: very easy

Refreshments: Gibler Alm

#6 Elbigenalp - Zum Kasermandl | For connoisseurs

Start again at the Geierwally parking lot. Two sights await you at the start: the carving school and the Geierwally open-air stage, which you leave behind you on the left. Follow the path uphill to the Ölberg Chapel. From there you have a wonderful view down to Elbigenalp. The trail offers beautiful views of the valley again and again and takes you to the Kasermandl Hütte, a real Lechtal institution, after around 1.5 hours.

Walking time: 1.5 hours

Difficulty: very easy

Refreshments: Kasermandl hut

No matter which route you choose, they are all beautiful. At the end, the warm and cozy LechSpa awaits you to relax. This is pure winter enjoyment!
