Perfect for winter sports

Is there anything better than gliding along on well-groomed cross-country trails? The 40 km long Lechtal cross-country ski trail from Steeg to Forchach runs right past the LechZeit. To be more precise, it is only 5 meters away from us and from your room on the ground floor you can directly access the trail. It doesn't get any closer!

The Lechtal trail is the main artery through the Lech Valley. But each of the 13 villages along the route also has its own attractive cross-country ski trails and circuits. This includes Elmen, where you can choose from three routes: the Upper and Lower Field Circuits and the Martinau Circuit.

Ski touring in the Lech Valley - from Elmen to the Klimmspitze

The trail leads directly from LechZeit to the Klimmspitze, a 2465 m high peak in the Allgäu Alps. As the tour from Elmen involves climbing around 1,500 meters above sea level, it is more suitable for experienced tourers.

Follow the hiking trail uphill until you reach a cirque at an altitude of 1,900 meters. From there you can already see the summit slope. You can either continue along the hiking trail, which only has one steep section, or take the path via the western slope, which is steeper but shorter.

At the summit, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view over the Lechtal and Allgäu Alps as far as the Säntis in Switzerland. For the descent, you can look forward to 1,500 vertical meters of enjoyment without any nasty surprises.

Snowshoe hiking in the Lech Valley - from Elmen to the Stablalm

Would you like to immerse yourself in nature with your snowshoes? You don't necessarily need a trail for this winter sport, but you will still like our tour recommendation. The Stablalm towers over the Lech Valley at 1,400 meters above sea level. You can see it from LechZeit on the opposite mountain.

A wide and easily accessible path leads you uphill from the Stabalm parking lot (approx. one kilometer from LechZeit). At first, the path climbs only moderately, but then becomes a little steeper. The Stablalm with its huts and snack station are already visible after a tunnel. From there it is not far to the delicacies of the traditional alpine hut.

We recommend the route from Elmen to Häselgehr. You can complete the 5.5 km route comfortably in a good hour. Simply take in the snow-covered Lech meadows, the gurgling of the water and the mighty mountains to the left and right of the river.
